Theres been alot of typography appearing on tv and websites in these past few weeks, the new Virgin Media Television add on Sky with Smauel L. Jackson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7KETHB_R_Q) theres only bits of the add which show a typography side to it though. The next one is on the umbro website (www.umbro.com) its about having your say in football, its only about 20 seconds but i think its worth a look!!

For assignment 1, I had to create an image displaying my friend's names in the style of a london underground map. To achieve this, I used adobe photoshop. I wanted to add my own personal additions to this project, not only did i add my friends- i added my family, a list of my heroes, my enemies and a list of people who i think are idiots (No lecturer's names will be found on the idiots list). To make my map look more realistic, i used a number of tools. I used; the "line" tool to draw out each individual line throughout the map and the "text" tool to label each friend, enemy, etc. To make my map appear neater and more professional, I used the grid option. This basically changed the white background to a structured page with gridlines throughout.

I used photoshop for this project as I am used to it, the 'routes' on the map are either people who I have met, such as the University, Facebook and Family routes, or famous people such as Heroes and Villains, I felt that putting the names on to the image was a very tedious process but nonetheless enjoyable! The tools I used in this project were the line tool for the routes, text tool for the names and the grid tool to get the ninety degree and forty-five degree angles perfected. As you can see from the map, there is a few lines which inter-link, I thought this resembeled a proper railway map in the way that not all journeys have there own rail-line, for this project I thought it would be a good idea to have names which could inter-link into different categories.
